I have been a fan of The Henry Clay People before they even had recorded an album. That’s not me being all Indie cool and saying “I knew them before anyone.” Though it’s true. I did and I am cool. Not really but at the time I lived in Echo Park had a lot of friends in bands and was always at shows seeing new bands. HCP were instantly a favorite of mine. Their live show is just a bunch of guys having fun playing music. The vibe is very infectious.
(Joey & Andy Siara)
I had been social with Joey and his brother Andy in the clubs and now and again at parties. We also live near one another and always bump into one another and say, “Oh man we gotta hang out.” Sadly we never do. However, I was glad when Joey expressed an interest in doing my show. So I got a six pack of beer and set my mics up in my kitchen. The result was a very loose fun conversation.
Joey is a super bright guy. We had an insightful conversation about how to debate with people you disagree with, the education system in America, Polish neighborhoods in Chicago and the possibility of Joey quitting music to become a teacher.
